2003-12-11 - 7:00 a.m. Scientific studies of air bubbles in ancient ice have shown that man has been changing the climate for 8,000 years. Yep. Global warming didnt start with the American Industrial Revolution, it began when farmers started clearing fields and raising livestock in Europe. A second bump in carbon dioxide levels 5,000 years ago corresponds with an increase in rice fields and more livestock in Asia. Its not shocking that mankind is destroying our planet. What is amazing is how long we have been at it. Here I thought that it was my SUV hauling my lazy American butt around that was ruining the world for peaceful, land-loving agrarians in other countries. Now it turns out that its the other way around! Well, clearly we need action, and it must be taken immediately. I call for an end to all farming in Europe and Asia! We must reverse this trend! Do your planet a favor: kill a cow and replant a forest on that farm! We must do something about the number one threat to the environment, and that is the production of food for humans. Take a lesson from the typical science fiction robot: Kill All Humans! By the way, there is another article at CNN.com that says that a single volcanic eruption put so many particulates in the air, that it artificially colored sunsets half-a-world away for 4 months. Reminding us that Mother Nature can do in minutes what takes humans hundreds, if not thousands, of years. So how much, really, should we worry about the impact of human activity on the planet? I went out to a classy restaurant (The Pressroom) last night for jazz night with a couple friends from work. It was supposed to be a much larger group, but, well, I dont know what happened. But I still had a great time. The jazz trio (piano, stand-up bass, and drums) played some Charlie Brown Christmas selections, Take Five, and just generally made for a nice atmosphere. And the bartender was good, which can really make a place. Listening to: Charlie Brown ChristmasWatching: nothing Drinking: Victory Hop Devil |
