Hey U.N., where you going?

2003-10-30 - 6:44 a.m.

I awoke this morning to a one sentence headline on NPR: "The U.N. is withdrawing its staff from Bagdad, Iraq."

This is what the terrorists want. They want the U.N. and the U.S. to lose their conviction and leave so they can move in and fill the power vacuum we would leave. This is exactly why we CAN'T leave. After winning the war, we cannot surrender the peace.

This is the group the Democrat Presidential candidate thinks we should looking to for leadership?

And why was there no follow-up story on that lead headline? The story they did run was about how the U.N. was following the example of the Red Cross. Well, the Red Cross isn't leaving completely, and they don't even HAVE to be there! What's the matter NPR? Don't you investigate when the result might be embarrassing to the U.N.?
