2004-03-17 - 5:41 a.m. Yesterday my life continued on the rollercoaster it has been on. Thanks to the slippery, snowy roads and my own over-confidence, I slid my car into a curb. I blew a tire and did some minor damage to the front lower spoiler. Unfortunately, you know today’s cars. Right behind that plastic are engine components. So even though the cosmetic damage is slight, the car is undrivable. So I will be without a vehicle for the next couple weeks, until my insurance company and the body shop get their act together. That really sucks. My mobility means a lot to me, and I hate having to rely on other people. So having to rely on other people to take me places is extra humiliating. But I have good news. I just saved a fortune on my car insurance by switching to Geico. All right, no I didn’t. Actually, my insurance company, who said that it could take 3-5 business days just to get an adjuster to look at my car, will probably raise my rate. Bastards. No, the good news is that a project that has been on hold for a couple months at work is finally back on. This is good, because it is our biggest contract, and there was a chance it might not have come back at all. People were getting nervous that if it didn’t, there might have to be lay-offs. Now it’s back on, with addendums! Yay! The big project is back on! Now our jobs are secure! There’s lots of work. We can start back in on it, full tilt. Now, instead on doing very little and billing nothing, we will be pressured to work and bill as much as possible before the end of the fiscal year. Shit. See what I mean? Life is screwing with me.
